Performing Arts Information

Welcome to the opportunity to develop your skills and talents in

Drama, Music + Dance

LESSONS:

  • At KS3 you will have ONE lesson a fortnight in Drama + Music. Drama: Will involve lots of confidence building tasks, group work and performances. You will focus on creating plays, acting out scripts and developing your communications skills

  • Music: Will involve listening to music, singing solo + ensemble performances, playing musical instruments and creating your own music.

  • At KS5 You could choose to take DRAMA, MUSIC or DANCE as an option for GCSE. This will mainly involve performance work, reviews of existing work, creating your own live performances, controlled exams and visits to various arts venues such as theatres, to watch musicals.

  • At KS5 you can take BTEC Performing Arts. This is the equivalent to 1 A Level. You will be required to take part in numerous performances, keep logs of your the progress, study practitioners and plays in detail. Carry out a variety of practical workshops to develop your acting or musical theatre skills.

EXTRA CURRICULAR activities on offer:

  • Drama club, Choir and instrumental lessons

  • The annual School productions- You can participate in acting, singing, dancing, helping back stage, creating set designs, costumes, lighting, sound, playing in the band

  • Eisteddfod Competitions and the Summer Showcase Talent Show

  • Attend Theatre Trips and take part in worships and talks by professional visiting artists
